If you’ve ever been curious about photo rejuvenation treatment and its effects, there’s no better time to schedule a free consultation. You don’t have to be naturally gifted with a clear complexion to be happy with your skin. Photo rejuvenation makes it possible to enjoy a blemish-free face by reducing unsightly spots and treating the normal signs of aging.
What is IPL Photorejuvenation Used For?
IPL Photorejuvenation is a laser treatment that is used to treat a variety of skin issues and imperfections. Some of the most prominent uses for IPL Photorejuvenation include:
Removing Sun Spots and Age Spots
As we age, our skin develops sun spots and age spots. These brown blotches can occur anywhere on the body, including the face, neck, chest and hands. IPL Photorejuvenation lightens and removes these spots for more youthful skin.
Many people can have patches of red or redness on their skin. Whether this is the result of rosacea, broken blood vessels, or dilated blood vessels, IPL Photorejuvenation can lighten or reduce redness on the chest, neck, or face.
IPL Photorejuvenation can help to control flushing for those who frequently have flushed skin.
Improve Skin Texture
The treatment can improve the appearance of your skin by increasing collagen stimulation, reduce pores, and keeps skin less oily.
How it Works
Clients will begin by putting on protective eyewear. Using a hand piece with a glass or laser surface and cooling gel for your skin, the technician will apply pulses of light to your skin that will feel mildly uncomfortable—comparable to the sensation being snapped by a rubber band. Beneath the skin, high-energy light waves are working to heat and stimulate collagen production to smooth wrinkles, target sun spot removal, and improve the elasticity and color of your face.
Most clients will elect to receive a full treatment of five sessions scheduled three weeks apart. Individuals with darker skin tones and those who tan regularly will not achieve the same results.
How Long Does IPL Take to Work?
This can vary based on the individual, but in general it can take anywhere from 3 to 5 months consisting of 3 to 5 treatments to get the maximum effects from the procedure. However, after each treatment you will see clear and obvious results. It just may take some time to get the amazing results IPL Photorejuvenation is known for.
What to Expect After IPL Photofacial?
Directly after an IPL treatment, the skin will appear redder than usual. This will persist for approximately 2 to 5 days before clearing up. During this period, feel free to use makeup to hide the redness, but make sure to take care to gently apply and remove the makeup. In some cases, there can be slight bruising for 1 to 2 weeks. If you are trying to remove age spots or freckles, those spots can sometimes look darker for up to a week following an IPL Photofacial.
Recovery and Down Time
Because the procedure is non-invasive, photo rejuvenation requires very little to no recovery. Pain is not residual; however, your face may appear red and irritated for several hours after the treatment.
While clients with sensitive skin may experience redness, bruising, and scabbing up to a week after the procedure, it’s important to understand IPL is still working below the epidermis for lasting results. Take extra care to protect your face by avoiding UV rays and wearing ample sunblock—especially in sunny San Diego.
